2020 Governor's Symposium on Postsecondary Education Trusteeship
Dec. 9, 2020
Today's higher education landscape is complex, encompassing issues like COVID-19, social justice, rising costs and falling enrollment. In this environment, bold leadership by trustees is more important than ever. The Council has developed information sessions and resources to help maximize board members' effectiveness and leadership on helping both their institution and Kentucky meet key educational goals. (This virtual training is being offered in lieu of the annual symposium due to the continuing pandemic.)
- Noon-1 p.m. - Webinar featuring Governor Beshear and President Thompson on Kentucky’s higher education landscape.
- 1:30-2:30 p.m. - Networking session (optional, to allow for small group discussions following webinar)
- 3-4:30 p.m. - Meeting for new university or KCTCS board members appointed or elected since October 2019
About the Annual Symposium
Effective board leadership requires trustees and regents to respond to the challenges and opportunities facing colleges and universities today and in the future. The Symposium on Postsecondary Education addresses the latest issues and trends that are shaping higher education, including free community college, income-share programs, higher education advocacy and diversity, and performance funding.
